‘Hulkenberg Making Good Case For Red Bull Seat’ – Martin Brundle

F1 pundit and former racing driver Martin Brundle believes Nico Hulkenberg’s strong performance at the Nurburgring on Sunday, coupled with his solid drives at Silverstone earlier this year, have made him a strong candidate for a Red Bull seat next year.



“He [Hulkenberg] is making a good case for a Red Bull seat, should one become available next year,” Brundle said towards the end of the Eifel GP.

Hulkenberg only found out he would be driving for Racing Point on Saturday morning, with Lance Stroll feeling unwell.



The German finished the race in eight position after starting right at the back of the grid.



Meanwhile, Alex Albon – the driver Red Bull could potentially replace with Hulkenberg at the end of the year – had a shockingly bad race.



The Thai flat-spotted two sets of tyres which forced him into earlier than planned pitstops, and he also picked up a penalty for crashing into Daniil Kvyat and taking off his front wing.
