Aston Martin Could Give Mercedes A ‘Run For Their Money’ In 2022 – Stroll
The newly rebranded Aston Martin F1 Team has ambitious plans going forward, and with the addition of four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel, in addition to a more equitable distribution of prize money and a $145mn budget cap in 2021, the team is looking to emerge from the midfield once and for all.

In a recent interview , team owner Lawrence Stroll said he believes they could potentially give Mercedes and any other frontrunning F1 team a “run for their money” in 2022.
“Do I think we can beat Mercedes? Certainly not next year. We’re all very big realists,” Stroll said.
“You know, with the new rule changes in 2022, we don’t know what they will mean exactly. The intent is to bring the field closer; will it succeed?
“If it succeeds, I think we can give anybody – not only Mercedes, it could be Red Bull, could be Ferrari – a run for their money,” the Canadian billionaire added.
The team, racing under the Racing Point moniker, finished fourth in the 2020 Constructors’ Championships despite having comfortably the third-fastest car at most grand prix that season.
Despite this missed opportunity, 2020 was nevertheless a strong campaign for the Silverstone-based team and they’ll be hoping to get off to a good start as Aston Martin Racing .
