WTCR - Urrutia pips Girolami to go fastest

Sport news Santiago Urrutia topped the times in Free Practice 2 at WTCR Race of France as the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup field continued to acclimatise to Circuit Pau-Arnos ahead of Qualifying. Cyan Performance Lynk & Co driver Urrutia recorded a time of 1m19.295s to head Néstor Girolami’s ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport Honda Civic Type R TCR by just 0.047s. The top 17 were separated by less than a second in the 30-minute session, with four of the WTCR's five customer racing brands making it into the top 10. Yvan Muller, fastest in the first session, was third quickest this time in his Cyan Racing Lynk & Co. He was just ahead of fellow Frenchman Nathanaël Berthon in his Comtoyou DHL Team Audi Sport RS 3 LMS. Norbert Michelisz was fifth fastest in his BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse Hyundai Elantra N TCR, with Goodyear #FollowTheLeader Yann Ehrlacher sixth. The other Lynk & Co of Thed Björk was seventh, with Tom Coronel (Audi), Gabriele Tarquini (Hyundai) and Frédéric Vervisch (Audi) completing the top 10. Gilles Magnus battled back from a couple of excursions off track, including a trip through a gravel trap, to end up in P11. He headed the first of the Zengő Motorsport CUPRA Leon Competicións of Mikel Azcona. Jean-Karl Vernay (Hyundai), Attila Tassi (Honda) and Esteban Guerrieri (Honda) completed the top 15.
