‘F*** The Mask’: Wolff Riled Up After Hamilton Wins Sao Paulo GP

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was clearly riled up after the 2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, with him removing his face mask and saying “f*** the mask” ahead of the podium ceremony.

Sir Lewis Hamilton started Sunday’s race in P10 after recovering from P20 to fifth in Saturday’s sprint.

The Brit was relegated to the back of the field on Friday due to a DRS irregularity, and he also had to serve a five-place grid drop due to him running a new internal combustion engine in Brazil.

Hamilton quickly cut through the field and almost overtook Verstappen for the lead as a result of a Mercedes undercut.

And, several laps later, the seven-time World Champion edged past Verstappen, only to lose the position after being forced wide.

Wolff was evidently aggrieved with the fact the race stewards deemed the incident not worthy of an investigation, yet alone a penalty of any sort.

Despite this, Hamilton nevertheless managed to eventually overtake Verstappen on-track, prompting Wolff to aggressively gesticulate to a camera in the Mercedes garage.

With just three races of the 2021 season remaining, Verstappen has a 14-point lead over Hamilton at the summit of the Drivers’ Standings .

And, with Mercedes expected to be very strong at the remaining circuits – all of which are power hungry – this year’s Championship fight is far from over.
