2023 Formula 1 calendar leaked

A 24-race calendar has been leaked ahead of next season, and it includes the return of the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.



The calendar was set to be extended to 23 races this year, but Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine led to the race in Sochi being cancelled.



Formula 1 is making a return to some fan favourites that have been off the calendar in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic though, one of which being the Canadian Grand Prix, which was won by Max Verstappen.



The sweltering heat of Singapore is also set to reappear after the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, followed by the infamous Suzuka Circuit in Japan.

Despite links to Malaysia and Germany, no replacement was found for Russia, and organisers cannot shut the streets of Singapore for another week, so that slot has been abandoned, and the calendar has returned to 22 rounds.



Next season though, 24 rounds are expected to take place, with Monaco being one of them.



The Principality looked under threat going into next year after its contract ran out last year, before a one-year extension was hurriedly put into place.



According to F1-Insider, Monaco will feature on the calendar once again in 2023 as one of the oldest races in the championship continues to survive.



The Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, as well as the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest, will both allegedly be moved back to after the Belgian Grand Prix, which secured a new deal for next season.



There was a danger of Spa being ejected from the schedule due to the re-emergence of the Kyalami Circuit, but the track in South Africa is not ready to host an F1 race yet, so it will not feature next year.



Following the pull of global viewers as a result of the Drive to Survive docuseries, multiple races, including street circuits, have been touted in America and South America, some of which would be street circuits.

This leaves the founding venues of the world championship potentially at risk in the coming years, something that some of the drivers, including Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel, have spoken out against.



The Qatar Grand Prix at the Losail Circuit returns for its second race having previously held one last year, while Vegas is set to form the penultimate round of the season in November.
