Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull discuss reunion

Sebastian Vettel has called time on his stellar Formula 1 career, bowing out at 35 years of age and with four world championships.



The German has been begged by fans to reconsider his decision to retire following a strong end to the season with Aston Martin, however their pleas fell on deaf ears as Vettel bid farewell to the sport in Abu Dhabi.



While Vettel has rejects claims that he will return to the grid as a reserve driver in the future, he has not ruled out the possibility of returning to Formula 1 in a managerial capacity, with many thinking that the 35-year-old would be well suited to such a role.



“It’s okay, I’m used to getting up early with the kids,” laughed Vettel when asked whether he could adjust to the lifestyle of a Formula 1 boss.

“And when I was in Formula 3, a certain Helmut Marko woke me up at seven in the morning.



“But yes, I know very well that the drivers need to consciously allocate time for rest, while the leaders are constantly dealing with things.”



Vettel won all four of his championship with Red Bull, as the team dominated the sport in the early 2010’s, and some have suggested that the German could make a return to the Red Bull system.



The energy drink giants own both Red Bull and AlphaTauri, along with a young driver program, so opportunities could quite easily open up for Vettel to enter management should he wish to make that step in his career, according to Helmut Marko.



“We have two teams, se we are open to that,” said Marko when asked about Vettel returning to the Red Bull setup.

“His life will definitely be different from the one he had as a driver. He’d come to work earlier, leave later and receive only a small part of a pilot’s salary,” he concluded.



Fans have fantasised about Vettel becoming a mentor for younger drivers in F1, especially hoping that the German will get the opportunity to manage and mentor young Mick Schumacher, with whom he shares such a wholesome and supportive friendship.



While the legendary driver will almost certainly take a couple of years to recharge the batteries, even Vettel himself has admitted it could be difficult to resist the draw of Formula 1 in a couple of years time.
