Max Verstappen spotted eyeing up rival’s supercar

Many years ago, Sebastian Vettel joked that “everybody is a Ferrari fan,” such is the history of the brand.

It now appears that the German may have been right, as Max Verstappen, the man who spent all of 2022 going toe to toe with Ferrari, has now been spotted looking at one of their cars.

The Dutchman has been filmed eyeing up a stunning red Ferrari in a Monaco car showroom, walking around the car before eventually sitting in the driver’s seat.

The Ferrari F90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano is a stunning piece of machinery, so it is no wonder that Verstappen is potentially looking to purchase the car, despite it being part of one of his biggest rival’s car range.

It is not out of the ordinary for F1 drivers to own cars from rival brands, with Ferraris and McLarens making up a part of a lot of drivers’ car collections.

Verstappen in fact already owns a Ferrari, with his limited edition Monza SP2 reportedly being worth a cool $1.8m.

The F90 that the 25-year-old was viewing in was a new addition to the showroom according to their social media, and with Verstappen living in Monaco, it makes sense that he would be seen having a look at such a spectacular car.

On the track however, the Red Bull driver will be looking to stay as far away from Ferrari as possible, as he looks to extend his championship winning run to three titles in a row.

The Scuderia were Red Bull’s closest challengers in 2022, but strategic blunders and an unreliable engine saw the team fall out of the title race, leaving Verstappen and Red Bull to cruise to both championships with races to spare.

Under the new leadership of Fred Vasseur, Charles Leclerc will be hoping that he can mount a more serious title charge this season, having even been the favourite for the championship in the early stages of last season.

Red Bull will be hindered by their lack of testing time due to their breach of the 2021 cost cap, giving the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes a real change to challenge the energy drink giants.
