Revealed: How much Lewis Hamilton paid Angela Cullen per race

Lewis Hamilton’s former physio Angela Cullen reportedly earned £80,000 per race when working for the seven-time World Champion, with the figure having been revealed by Crash.net.

Cullen started working for the Mercedes star in 2016, before they announced their split during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this season.

Their split was amicable with Hamilton having shared that the Kiwi wanted to “follow her dreams”, with the pair having remained close friends since she returned home.

The amount that Hamilton reportedly paid her as raised several eyebrows though, given that an F1 physio typically only earns £60,000 per season, according to Judge13.

Should the figure be correct, then Cullen would’ve received £1.7 million from the Mercedes driver last season, for having worked at all 22 races.

According to The Sportsrush, Cullen’s net worth has risen to an estimated £12 million, as a result of having worked with Hamilton for so long.

It was actually Hamilton who approached Cullen to join his team, with the 38-year-old having seen the New Zealander following a bout of neck pain.

After receiving treatment from her, Hamilton asked Cullen to travel the world with him, something she did for just over seven years.

The pair became incredibly close friends, with Hamilton having revealed that they still communicate with each other “pretty much every day”.

“Angela is living her life right now,” Hamilton recently said, as reported by the Express.co.uk.

“She’s got so many ideas of things she wants to do. We message pretty much every day. We are still going to skydive together. We are always going to be in each other’s lives.

“We’re stuck with each other, unfortunately, or fortunately! We’ve been through thick and thin. I am grateful our relationship is as good as it is.”

Following Cullen’s exit, Hamilton did have to make some tweaks to his team; however, he’s very happy with the crew he’s now got.

“This set-up I have right now is great: One of the guys that’s been with me since, Stevo, has been with me since my first race at McLaren, he followed me here when I moved from McLaren to here as my gearbox engineer and he’s moved onto several different roles and he’s helping me right now,” Hamilton commented.
