ETRC: Kiss scores hat-trick at Zolder
Sport news It was business as usual for the championship-leading Hungarian, who kicked off his weekend by taking pole position. Came Race 1 and Kiss settled into the lead once the race got underway, however, three laps into the race his turbo failed. Second-best in the points standing Jochen Hahn capitalised on Kiss’ bad luck and went on to take his second victory of the season. Kiss then bounced back and performed in dominant fashion in the remainder of the event, winning all three remaining races, however, it was Hahn, who gathered the biggest points tally of any driver in Belgium, scoring a total of 48 points to Kiss’ 40. Hahn also strengthened himself in second place overall, scoring 13 more points than Sascha Lenz and 15 points more than Antonio Albacete. José Eduardo Rodrigues was the standout performer of the weekend, having by far his best event of the season. The Portuguese racer finished third in races 1 and 4 and amassed a total of 32 points, his season best. Next up is the penultimate round of the season held at Le Mans’ Bugatti Circuit from 23 September, with the season finale taking place at Circuito del Jarama the week after.
