2023 Singapore GP: Max Verstappen to be stripped of his position

Max Verstappen’s qualifying performance at the Singapore Grand Prix has come under scrutiny, with Formula 1 stewards launching an investigation into multiple incidents involving the Red Bull driver. 



Verstappen is alleged to have impeded both Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, as well as Yuki Tsunoda during the qualifying sessions at Marina Bay.



The first incident occurred during Q1 when Verstappen stopped at the pit exit, delaying Hamilton and Russell as they were about to begin their out-laps. 



Although Verstappen eventually resumed, stewards deemed the incident worthy of further examination.

In Q2, Verstappen found himself in hot water once again as he ran at a slow pace on the racing line while exiting Turn 3. 



This forced Tsunoda to abandon his initial attempt, prompting stewards to investigate the matter further.



Meanwhile, Logan Sargeant is also facing an investigation for impeding Lance Stroll, adding to the list of incidents in a challenging qualifying session. 



Additionally, stewards noted several instances of drivers slowing down in sector 3 during their out-laps.

Despite the disruptions, all three drivers involved in the initial incident, Verstappen, Hamilton, and Russell, successfully advanced to Q2. 



However, Q1 had to be prematurely concluded due to a significant accident involving Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin.



Unfortunately for Red Bull, the difficulties continued as both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez failed to progress from Q2, adding to the disappointments of a challenging weekend for the team.
