George Russell Unveils Charles Leclerc’s Harry Potter Fandom

George Russell inadvertently revealed Charles Leclerc’s status as a Harry Potter superfan just before the Monaco Grand Prix.

During a media event with F1 stars including Leclerc and Max Verstappen, Russell shared a 12-year-old video from his go-karting days with Leclerc.

Russell explained, somewhat embarrassed, that the video was from when he and Leclerc were teenagers.

The conversation began with a question about the drivers’ favorite movies, leading Leclerc to confess that Harry Potter was his favorite.

Leclerc, now 26, said, “Actually, Harry Potter was probably my favorite growing up and it remains one of my favorite movies.

“I knew the lines when I was 10 years old… everyone was telling me I was looking like Harry Potter as well.”

Russell then jumped in, saying, “One of the first videos I have on my phone is of Charles in 2012.

“It was in Ortona and you put the broomstick between your legs and you were doing the wizard [impression].”

The video, showing Leclerc pretending to be a wizard, elicited laughter from the panel.

However, Leclerc, unlike Verstappen and others, didn’t find it amusing. The Ferrari driver retorted, “Keep that video to yourself.”

Social media erupted, eager to see the full clip. Even Russell’s team, Mercedes, joined in, tweeting, “Sorry @Charles_Leclerc, but we’re gonna need to see that video @GeorgeRussell63.”

This incident comes just before Leclerc’s home Grand Prix in Monaco, where he stands second in the Drivers’ Championship.

Leclerc hasn’t won a Grand Prix in almost two years, his last victory being in Austria in 2022.

He hopes to redeem himself on the streets of Monaco but faces tough competition from championship leader Verstappen, who has won four of the six races this season.

In addition, the in-form Lando Norris is also a strong contender, coming into the Monaco GP with three consecutive podium finishes.

Norris won the Miami GP earlier this month, followed by two second-place finishes.

Practice starts on Friday, with qualifying on Saturday, leading up to the main event on Sunday.
