Stroll Eyes Major Shake-Up at Aston Martin Amid Struggles and Ambitious Future Plans

Alonso came close to winning the Monaco Grand Prix and finished second in Canada.



After the Montreal race, he was third in the drivers’ standings with 117 points, and his team held the same position in the constructors’ standings behind Red Bull and Mercedes.



However, in the next 14 races, the two-time world champion only finished in the top three twice.



Despite scoring just 89 points in that period, Alonso managed to retain fourth in the standings, but Aston Martin fell to fifth in the team rankings.

The main issue was that Aston Martin was out-developed by their rivals.



McLaren, in particular, made an impressive surge to the front after starting the year near the back.



At the beginning of this year, Aston Martin made a strong start despite not adding any trophies.



Between Alonso and teammate Lance Stroll, they secured three top-six finishes in the first four events.



However, the Silverstone team now seems to be on a concerning trajectory.



They have scored only four points across the last three weekends, and for the first time all season, neither car finished in the top 10 at Monaco.



Aston Martin had hoped to challenge Red Bull this season, as Ferrari and McLaren have done in recent races.



Instead, they find themselves 140 points behind the top three and falling further away from Mercedes in fourth, with a 52-point gap.



They now need to watch out for Red Bull’s junior team, AlphaTauri, closing in thanks to Yuki Tsunoda’s strong performances.



In response, Lance Stroll is expected to take action. Journalist Leo Turrini reported on QN Motori that a change in the team principal position is imminent.



Mike Krack is likely to be replaced, with Stroll in contact with former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto.



Krack, who took over from Otmar Szafnauer at the start of 2022 and oversaw significant improvements, is facing concerns from the team’s owner about their current direction.



Binotto, who spent three years as Ferrari’s team principal, led them to six race wins and a brief challenge to Red Bull for the title in 2022 before strategic errors cost them.



Stroll’s ambitions are clear. He aims to make Aston Martin a race-winning and eventually championship-winning F1 team.



He is looking towards the 2026 regulation changes and has already secured an exclusive engine deal with Honda.

After securing star driver Alonso, Stroll wants to assemble a top-tier team.



He offered a substantial salary to Adrian Newey, the legendary designer leaving Red Bull next year.



Although Newey is likely to join Ferrari, this could create an opportunity. Stroll hopes to sign Ferrari’s technical director Enrico Cardile, who may be unsettled by Newey’s arrival.
