Ferrari under pressure after Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc disasterclass

Lewis Hamilton’s start to the 2025 Formula 1 season has been underwhelming, with his performance in the Australian Grand Prix being criticized as an “embarrassment.” The seven-time world champion could only manage a 10th-place finish, having qualified eighth, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc throughout the weekend.

Former Ferrari general manager Peter Windsor was unimpressed, particularly as Hamilton found himself battling in the midfield with Williams’ Alex Albon.

“Throughout the race, they were giving Lewis instructions on how he could overtake Albon, how to use the DRS and the different things that needed to be done, but he kept saying he could do it,” Windsor noted. “Well, he didn’t handle it very well at all.”

Disqualification in China Adds to Ferrari’s Misery

Ferrari’s struggles extended into the Chinese Grand Prix, where both Hamilton and Leclerc were disqualified from the main race. Leclerc’s car was found to be underweight, while Hamilton’s disqualification was due to excessive skid block wear.

The pressure is mounting on Hamilton to justify Ferrari’s decision to replace Carlos Sainz with him. With just one point from the first two races, he already trails McLaren’s Lando Norris by 35 points in the championship standings.

Only a sprint race victory in China has given Hamilton a slight edge over Leclerc, offering Ferrari a small silver lining. However, the team’s early-season struggles suggest a tough road ahead as they aim for a competitive resurgence.
