Ex-F1 team boss makes surprising Max Verstappen revelation

Max Verstappen, a four-time world champion, continues to impress not just with his Formula 1 performances but also with his extraordinary adaptability to different vehicles. Franz Tost, the former head of Red Bull’s junior team, recently shared high praise for the Dutch star, highlighting his remarkable skills during a Ferrari GT test last year.

Tost recalled Verstappen’s performance at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, where he participated in a Ferrari GT race car test. “Max Verstappen would win even with a tractor,” Tost said. “For example, last year Max did a test with a Ferrari GT race car. He was immediately two seconds faster than the rest.”

According to Tost, Verstappen’s unique blend of “incredible vision, incredible vehicle control, and an incredible feel for a car” sets him apart from other drivers. He added that Verstappen could adapt to any Formula 1 car instantly and would then refine it to suit his driving style.

Verstappen’s Future at Red Bull in Question

Despite his on-track brilliance, Verstappen’s long-term future with Red Bull has come under scrutiny. Growing speculation suggests the Dutchman may be considering a departure from the team where he found immense success. Red Bull director Helmut Marko has already voiced concerns over Verstappen’s apparent disillusionment, while Verstappen himself has remained focused on racing and has kept silent about the rumors.

This season has posed new challenges for Verstappen. After dominating the competition and fending off Lando Norris in 2024, the start of the current campaign has been less favorable. Norris and his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri currently sit ahead of Verstappen in the standings.

Title Defense Becomes More Difficult

The 27-year-old has managed just a single victory in the first five races of the season, a stark contrast to his previous form. As he heads into the Miami Grand Prix, Verstappen faces an uphill battle to reclaim dominance and keep his championship hopes alive.
