Lewis Hamilton exposes Ferrari troubles after new tantrum

Lewis Hamilton’s much-hyped move to Ferrari has quickly shifted from dream to discontent, as tensions surfaced yet again at the Miami Grand Prix, casting doubt on his future harmony with the Italian team.

A Promising Start Turns Sour

The seven-time world champion made headlines in the off-season when he left Mercedes after 12 years to pursue a lifelong dream of driving for Ferrari. At the time, Hamilton expressed his enthusiasm, saying the switch was the fulfillment of a “long-held dream.”

However, after six rounds of the 2025 season, that dream is looking increasingly like a nightmare. Hamilton has only finished in the top five once and currently sits seventh in the drivers’ standings. His lackluster form, paired with growing tension within the team, is stoking frustration for both Hamilton and Ferrari fans.

Miami GP Exposes Internal Friction

The Miami Grand Prix was the latest scene of mounting tension. Hamilton, starting 12th on the grid, managed to claw his way up to eighth. But during the race, he found himself stuck behind teammate Charles Leclerc and began urging the team to let him through as he had faster tyres and a shot at catching Kimi Antonelli in sixth.

After several laps of waiting, Ferrari finally gave the green light to switch positions. However, Hamilton didn’t hold back his sarcasm once the order came through.

“Have a tea break while you’re at it!” he snapped over the radio after Ricciardo Adami, his race engineer, acknowledged the swap. Later, when asked to let Leclerc back through, Hamilton quipped, “Do you want me to let him through as well?”

While he tried to downplay the incident post-race, the frustration was evident.

Media and Critics Weigh In

Hamilton’s performance in Miami earned him a lukewarm 6/10 rating from Italian pundit Leo Turrini, who didn’t mince words: “Starts twelfth, finishes eighth. The rest is a frustration that he doesn’t even hide anymore. Honeymoon never started with the Lady in Red.”

Such remarks have only fueled speculation that Hamilton’s partnership with Ferrari could be faltering sooner than expected.

Pressure Mounts Amid Comparison to Former Colleagues

Adding to Hamilton’s woes is the performance of those he left behind. Kimi Antonelli, who took his seat at Mercedes, is outperforming expectations, while George Russell earned his fourth podium of the season in Miami.

Hamilton now finds himself not only chasing results but also competing with the specter of his former team’s continued success. His initial optimism for a title challenge in red is being replaced by growing doubts and public scrutiny.
