WEC: Full 186-driver entry revealed for 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours
Sport news HYPERCAR FIELD STRONGER THAN EVER A record 21 Hypercars will line up, with eight manufacturers represented in what is expected to be the most competitive top-class field of the modern era. The driver line-up is also incredibly strong, with fifteen previous Le Mans winners returning in the top class. THE RETURN OF THE ICON Aston Martin returns to the top class for the first time in over a decade with its Valkyrie AMR-LMH, powered by a naturally aspirated V12. The British marque, which first entered the race in 1928 and took overall victory in 1959, fields two factory-run cars as part of its renewed commitment to endurance racing, adding to the prestige and historic depth of the 2025 field. AN ASTOUNDING LMGT3 GRID The LMGT3 class features 24 entries from nine manufacturers, the largest GT3 field ever at Le Mans. Mercedes-AMG joins the class this year and partners with Iron Lynx, adding further depth to an already competitive class. In recognition of the Stuttgart-based marque’s long-awaited comeback to Le Mans, all three cars will make a visual statement by featuring a design concept synonymous with the three-pointed star. The livery is unmistakably reminiscent of the iconic C9, from the silver base tone to colour-coded door mirrors. LMP2: THREE-TIME OVERALL WINNER HEADLINES CLASS’ ENTRY Seventeen entries make up the LMP2 field, which once again promises close racing and strategic intrigue. Three-time overall winner André Lotterer headlines the class with IDEC Sport, using the race as preparation for Genesis’ planned Hypercar debut in 2026. The German will face strong competition from 2024 Hyperpole winner Louis Delétraz (AO by TF) and United Autosports’ Renger van der Zande, among others. LMP2’s traditional blend of endurance experience and emerging talent is set to deliver another classic contest. EXPANDED FEMALE PARTICIPATION INCLUDES FIRST LMP2 ENTRY SINCE 2022 Five female drivers are entered for this year’s race. The Iron Dames will race a Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3 run by Manthey Racing, with Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey joined by French rookie Célia Martin. Lilou Wadoux will race the Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari in LMGT3, while Jamie Chadwick will be part of the IDEC Sport line-up, becoming the first woman to race in the class at Le Mans since Sophia Flörsch competed for Algarve Pro Racing in 2022.
