Why has Lewis Hamilton unfollowed Ferrari?

Lewis Hamilton has scrubbed his Instagram following list to zero, unfollowing Ferrari, team-mate Charles Leclerc, and even loyal bulldog Roscoe.

The cleanse echoes a similar social-media blackout the Briton enacted after the controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi finale.

Struggles on Track

Since switching to Ferrari, Hamilton has failed to crack the top four in any of his six races and occupies seventh in the drivers’ championship.

He has been out-qualified by Leclerc in five events and lags the Monegasque by 12 points heading into the team’s home grand prix.

External Criticism

Jacques Villeneuve warned that the Tifosi “will not be patient,” while Ralf Schumacher predicted Hamilton could “end up quitting Ferrari before the end of his contract,” which runs through 2026.

Hamilton’s Perspective

Earlier this year he said, “I don’t really read the news and I go for long, long periods of time without social media.”

The 40-year-old now appears to be enacting that philosophy, shielding himself from negative commentary as pressure mounts.

Imola Litmus Test

Ferrari expects a significant upgrade package for Imola, framing the weekend as a turning point in Hamilton’s adaptation to the SF-25.

A strong result would temper criticism; another midfield finish could deepen doubts about the blockbuster move.
