George Russell has revealed the quirky detail that soured a celebratory flight with future team-mate Lewis Hamilton after learning he would debut in F1 with Williams in 2018.
“I actually flew home with Toto and Lewis that night,” Russell said in a recent F1 YouTube video.
The Hummus Incident
During the journey Russell “double-dipped the hummus,” prompting Hamilton to exclaim, “Man, what are you doing?”
Russell admitted he had never heard of the etiquette breach before, laughing that the seven-time champion’s quick rebuke made the memory stick.

The duo shared Mercedes cockpits from 2022-24, collecting five victories between them before Hamilton’s blockbuster switch to Ferrari this season.
