Stefano Domenicali Raises Brexit Concerns With Keir Starmer Ahead of British GP
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has expressed concerns regarding the long-term future of the British Grand Prix, particularly due to travel complications stemming from Brexit.
Domenicali met with new UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street this week ahead of the 2024 race at Silverstone.
The meeting addressed several topics, with Domenicali highlighting the need for smoother travel arrangements for international fans amid post-Brexit visa regulations.
“There are also things that we need to solve that with Brexit there are visa and movement complications,” Domenicali said.
“We cannot be limited by people having the chance to stay here for the weekend because they’re coming from another country.”
Despite the obstacles, Domenicali remains optimistic that the issues can be addressed.
Silverstone is preparing for record-breaking attendance, with around 500,000 fans expected over the weekend, highlighting the event’s growing popularity.
Highlighting Silverstone’s Legacy and National Importance
In his remarks, Domenicali also paid tribute to Silverstone’s heritage and its place in British motorsport history.
“A special thank you to the Prime Minister for inviting us here today to this famous and historic setting,” he said.
“We have an incredible week ahead at the British Grand Prix with nearly half a million fans coming to cheer on their heroes.”
He emphasized Formula 1’s deep roots in the UK, recalling that the sport began at Silverstone in 1950 and has since become an integral part of British culture.
“This is the home of our sport, and we want that to continue,” Domenicali said.

“As Prime Minister, I’m really proud of what Formula 1 does for our country,” Starmer stated.
He added, “It’s part of Brand Britain… not just looking back 75 years, but for many, many years to come.”
