Anthony Hamilton Hails Nicolas Hamilton’s First BTCC Jack Sears Trophy Win As A ‘Huge Achievement’

Anthony Hamilton had plenty to celebrate last weekend, with two of his children both claiming trophy victories on the same day.
Lewis Hamilton secured just a second Ferrari grand prix podium at the F1 Canadian Grand Prix, giving his father another reason to smile alongside the family celebrations.
Nicolas Hamilton, 34, claimed his first ever trophy in the British Touring Car Championship, winning the Jack Sears Trophy during the same weekend as his brother’s podium.
The Jack Sears Trophy is awarded to the best-performing driver throughout the weekend who has not previously stood on the podium in the series.
Nicolas performed brilliantly across the weekend in what was described as one of his best BTCC weekends to date, finishing 17th in race one before claiming 16th in both races two and three.
It marked the first ever occasion on which both Hamilton brothers celebrated winning a trophy on a podium on the same day, a proud moment for their father.
Lewis Hamilton FaceTimed Nicolas immediately after his own race and also reiterated his pride in his brother through an Instagram post following the milestone achievement.
Anthony Hamilton then took to Instagram himself to honour Nicolas, describing the trophy win as a significant personal and emotional milestone for the family.
“The older I get, the more I realise it was never really about the trophies,” Anthony Hamilton wrote in his Instagram post celebrating the achievement.
“It’s about the family and friends you share the journey with, and the pride you feel watching them succeed.”
He concluded his message with a direct tribute to his son, writing: “Congrats Nic, what a proud moment and huge achievement. Never give up.”
Nicolas Hamilton was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child and was told he might never walk again, but he races in a specially-modified car in the BTCC.
He made his debut in the series in 2015, becoming the first disabled driver to compete in the BTCC, and has been a more regular competitor since 2019.
His best race finish came at Donington Park in 2023, where he finished sixth in race two, before his team folded midway through that same season.
Nicolas now races with VERTU, having previously secured a seat for 2025 with Powder Monkey Brewing Co with Esidock after overcoming the setback of losing his drive.
