Lance Stroll Keeps Canadian GP Tradition Alive By Taking Aston Martin Team To Favourite Deli

Lance Stroll’s home race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal was his eighth appearance competing in Formula 1 at that venue.
The Canadian Grand Prix did not go well for Stroll, who finished down in 15th place, finishing four laps behind race winner Kimi Antonelli.
It was only the second time this season that Stroll managed to complete a full-length race, highlighting just how difficult the 2026 campaign has been for Aston Martin.
The team has been plagued by reliability issues throughout the season, with their Honda power unit suffering from poor power output and causing intense vibrations in the cars.
Aston Martin have failed to score a single point across the opening five grand prix weekends, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the constructors’ championship.
Despite the disappointing results, Stroll upheld a cherished race week tradition by taking team members out to eat in Montreal.
Stroll and the team visited Lester’s Deli, described as one of Stroll’s favourite eateries from his childhood years.
Aston Martin shared pictures of the occasion on social media, posting the caption: “A race week tradition at home.”
The team added: “Every year at the Canadian GP, Lance invites the team to come together at Lester’s Deli, a beloved spot from his youth, to try the best smoked meat sandwiches in Montreal. Last week was no different.”
Lawrence Stroll, who owns the team, has invested heavily in the outfit in recent years, attracting high-profile names such as Fernando Alonso, Adrian Newey and Enrico Cardile to join the project.
A brand new state-of-the-art facility has also been constructed as part of Lawrence Stroll’s ambition to build a championship-challenging team.
However, the gap between that ambition and current on-track performance remains significant, with major improvements clearly needed before Aston Martin can compete at the front of the grid.
