Charles Leclerc Reveals He Would Not Want Future Son To Race In Formula 1
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has opened up about his marriage to Alexandra Saint Mleux and his thoughts on fatherhood in a candid new interview.
The Monegasque driver married Alexandra in a small private ceremony ahead of the 2026 season, with the couple turning heads when they were spotted driving through Monte-Carlo in a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa.
Wedding pictures shared on Saint Mleux’s Instagram have since accumulated 21.8 million likes collectively, and the celebrations are far from over.
The couple are set to hold a second, larger wedding celebration in 2027, meaning their big party is still yet to come.
Speaking to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Leclerc reflected warmly on the intimate ceremony and the iconic car chosen for the occasion.
“Wonderful, unforgettable. We had a small ceremony in Monte Carlo, then we’ll have a bigger party later. I didn’t think I’d be so excited, but when I got there I have to say there was a lot of excitement. That’s a big contract!”
Leclerc also revealed that the choice of car for the wedding day was a joint decision made with his new wife.
“We chose it together, with Alexandra. I showed her a few cars we could have for the day, and she immediately fell in love with the Testa Rossa.”
When the interview turned to the subject of children and whether he would want a future son to follow him into Formula 1, Leclerc was refreshingly direct in his response.
“No, better not! I won’t be the one to decide, but if I had to choose, I’d like him to do something else. Watching my younger brother, Arthur, compete is already a pain. I don’t dare imagine having a child…”
The Ferrari driver explained that the anxiety of watching a loved one race is something he experiences firsthand when his brother Arthur competes on the same grid.
Leclerc was also asked whether his mother, Pascale Leclerc, still feels nervous watching him race at the highest level of motorsport.
He acknowledged that while she may have grown slightly more accustomed to it over time, the worry never truly disappears for a parent watching their child compete.
“Maybe she’s gotten used to it a little now, but yes, I think she’ll always worry as a mother.”
