Will Buxton Calls Ferrari Luce A “Pig” In Brutal Attack On Brand’s First Electric Car

Ferrari’s first ever electric vehicle, the Luce, has attracted fierce criticism since its unveiling, with one prominent F1 insider leading the charge against it.
The car’s debut sent shockwaves through the automotive world, with Ferrari’s share price dropping sharply in response to the reveal.
The design itself has been widely ridiculed, and the vehicle has been linked to an unconfirmed price tag of approximately $640,000 (£427,000).
Netflix Drive to Survive star and F1 and IndyCar pundit Will Buxton has delivered what may be the most damning verdict on the Luce to date.
Speaking on Speed on Fox, Buxton launched an unsparing attack on the car, targeting everything from its appearance to its fundamental concept.
“$645,000 that will set you back,” Buxton said. “It’s an electric Ferrari. If you’re going to rip the heart out of a Ferrari by removing an actual engine, what are you going to end up with? Something with no character and no soul. It’s a pig.”
Buxton questioned exactly who Ferrari was targeting with a vehicle at that price point, making a stark comparison to another brand.
“Who are they trying to appeal to with this? Who’s got $645,000 to spend on something? Honestly a Hyundai electric car looks better than that.”
The pundit continued his criticism, suggesting the car was so contrary to Ferrari’s traditions that its creation may have been deliberate self-sabotage.
“There’s no soul or joy in that,” he said. “Maybe they’ve designed something so pig ugly and so abhorrent to the traditions of Ferrari, they’ve done it on purpose so they’ll never be asked to make another one again.”
Buxton reserved his sharpest line for last, invoking the memory of the brand’s legendary founder in a cutting remark.
“Enzo Ferrari is spinning so fast in his grave that he’s producing enough electricity to power that bloody thing.”
The criticism shows no signs of dying down, with the backlash against the Luce continuing to grow following its unveiling.
