Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen is adjusting to the joys and surprises of family life alongside his demanding career at Red Bull.
Verstappen and partner Kelly Piquet welcomed their daughter Lily into the world last year, with the couple announcing the news ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.
A clip shared on social media captured Verstappen mid-stream when he was suddenly interrupted by an unexpected and very relatable family moment.
Piquet’s daughter Penelope burst into the room with urgent news, bringing the streaming session to an abrupt and amusing halt.
Verstappen laughed as he explained to viewers what had caused the commotion, revealing that Penelope had discovered one of her teeth was coming loose.
“Penelope came in screaming,” Verstappen said, recounting the moment with obvious amusement.
“Her tooth was falling out! I said, ‘Yeah, that happens!'”
The clip offered fans a rare and warm glimpse into Verstappen’s home life away from the pressures of competing at the very top of motorsport.
Verstappen was no stranger to having a young child around before Lily arrived, having formed a close bond with Penelope during his relationship with Piquet.
Penelope is Piquet’s daughter from her previous relationship with former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat, and Verstappen has spoken warmly about watching her grow up.
“I’m kind of like a bonus dad already with my girlfriend having a daughter, so I saw her grow up since she was one,” Verstappen said last year.
Now with two young children in the household, the Dutchman is balancing the demands of elite motorsport with the equally unpredictable demands of family life.
There is little sign that fatherhood has dulled his competitive edge, but moments like these show a very different side to one of F1’s greatest champions.
Even a driver accustomed to handling enormous pressure at 200mph is no match for the chaos of a panicked, loose-tooth emergency at home.
