Italian Media Lavish Hamilton With Perfect Scores And ‘Colossal Revenge’ Praise After Barcelona Triumph

Lewis Hamilton’s maiden victory with Ferrari at the Barcelona Grand Prix has sent the Italian F1 media into a state of celebration and admiration.
The win marked a landmark moment for Hamilton, whose journey to success with the Scuderia has been anything but straightforward.
Last season was widely regarded as the most difficult of his entire career, becoming the first year he failed to claim a single podium in Formula 1.
Hamilton himself publicly questioned his own pace on multiple occasions, fuelling widespread speculation about whether his career could continue into 2026.
Pundits and media figures repeatedly raised doubts about the seven-time world champion, with some suggesting he was finished as a top-level competitor.
Those doubts have now been emphatically silenced, with Hamilton having secured four podiums this season, including the race victory in Barcelona.
He currently sits second in the drivers’ standings, trailing championship leader Kimi Antonelli by just 41 points with 15 races still remaining.
La Repubblica awarded Hamilton a perfect score of 10 and wrote: “Perhaps the greatest achievement is being able to feel like a child at his first win in red after 31 races, even though he’s already won seven world titles and 105 grand prix in his career.”
The Italian publication added: “This laurel feels like a colossal revenge against those who thought he was finished. Standing on the top step of the podium at 41 years and seven months is something that will go down in history.”
La Repubblica also noted a striking historical parallel, pointing out that Michael Schumacher scored his first Ferrari victory at the very same circuit back in 1996.
Corriere della Sera went even further in their praise, awarding Hamilton an extraordinary score of 106, a direct nod to his total number of career victories.
The Italian newspaper drew its own comparison to Schumacher, writing: “Barcelona, like 30 years ago for Michael Schumacher, is the site of his ‘maiden victory’ with Ferrari.”
Corriere della Sera also referenced Hamilton’s previous win, which came at the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix following the disqualification of his then-Mercedes teammate George Russell.
The publication quoted Hamilton directly after his Barcelona triumph: “I’ve always imagined what it would be like to win with Ferrari: now I’m understanding. I hope it’s just the first of many successes.”
Corriere della Sera closed their piece with a literary flourish, invoking the philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and comparing Hamilton’s journey to that of Ulysses returning to Ithaca.
