‘He Just Didn’t Care About Anything’: Ricciardo On Having Verstappen As A Team-Mate
Daniel Ricciardo is counting down his final races with the Renault works team, as he will be joining Mclaren at the end of the 2020 Formula One season.
With this move on the horizon, Ricciardo has briefly looked back on his time at Red Bull, when he was partnered with Max Verstappen .

“I think credit goes to Max, and a lot of it was his age at the time, that had its down sides with a little bit of immaturity, but it also had its upside with the fact he just didn’t care about anything,” he said in an episode of the Howie Games Podcast.
Elaborating, Ricciardo said, “He didn’t care about annoying people or the risks, it was ‘I’m going to go out there and drive this thing as hard as I can’.
“I think probably he didn’t understand the responsibility, he kind of raced with a lot of freewill that worked out for him pretty well a handful of times.”
Following Ricciardo’s departure from Red Bull, the team opted to promote Pierre Gasly from the sister team, but he was demoted back to Toro Rosso after just half a season.
Alex Albon was subsequently put in the second Red Bull seat, and he too has also been largely overshadowed by Verstappen.
The young Dutch ace is regarded as one of the best drivers on the F1 grid, and it recently emerged that he could leave Red Bull at the end of 2021 as there is a performance-related exit clause in his active contract.
