It was also reported that Vettel spoke to ex-F1 driver Gerhard Berger about his future and even mulled a move to DTM.
The four-time World Champion has now confirmed he spoke with Ecclestone and Berger about his future, in addition to several other people.
“It’s true that I spoke with both of them, as well as some other people,” Vettel said.
“Some I consider my friends, some I just asked for advice. As for the commission, Bernie [Ecclestone] didn’t ask me for it! I suppose he wouldn’t like to take money from me.”
When asked about his interest in competing in DTM alongside F1, Vettel replied: “I would be interested but when the calendar is going to 23 races, it’s not so easy to find time. It’s not really realistic.”
Despite having a stellar Turkish Grand Prix to win his first podium of the season, Vettel remains just 13 th in the Drivers’ Standings and he recently admitted that his “love affair” with Ferrari is over.
